The waterproof performance of the charging pile control board is very important. Here are some methods to judge the waterproof performance:
View protection level standards (IP level):
IP (Ingress Protection) rating is an international code used to determine the level of protection, followed by two digits, with one digit indicating dust prevention; The second number represents waterproofing. For waterproof performance, the larger the number, the stronger the waterproof ability. For example, IPX4 represents the ability to prevent water splashing from all directions from entering, IPX5 represents the ability to prevent water from large waves from entering, IPX6 represents the ability to prevent a large amount of water spraying from large waves from entering, IPX7 represents the ability to prevent the impact of immersion in water, and can still work normally after being immersed in water for a short period of time. IPX8 represents the ability to immerse in water for a long time under a certain pressure. The waterproof level of the charging station control board should generally reach at least IPX4. If installed in harsh outdoor environments, such as near pools or areas prone to water accumulation, it is better to reach IPX5 or higher.
Check the shell design and sealing measures:
Shell material: High quality charging pile control board shells are usually made of materials with waterproof properties, such as high-strength plastic or metal shells, and have undergone waterproof treatment. For example, some plastic shells undergo special injection molding processes to make their surfaces smooth, seamless, and prevent moisture infiltration. The metal shell may have undergone anti-corrosion treatments such as galvanizing and painting, and sealing with sealant or rubber sealing rings at the joints.
Interface sealing: Check the sealing condition of the charging gun interface, power interface, communication interface, and other positions. These interfaces are areas where moisture easily enters, and good control boards will use sealing measures such as waterproof gaskets and plugs at the interfaces. For example, there should be a tightly fitting rubber sealing ring around the charging gun interface, which can effectively prevent moisture from entering the control board from the interface when the charging gun is inserted.
Ventilation design: If the control panel has ventilation openings for heat dissipation, there should be waterproof design at the ventilation openings. Some ventilation openings adopt a louvered structure and are equipped with waterproof breathable membranes inside, which can ensure air circulation and prevent moisture from entering.
Conduct waterproof testing (if conditions permit):
Simulated rainfall test: Water spraying equipment can be used to simulate the rainfall environment. The charging pile control board can be placed at a certain distance and sprayed with appropriate water pressure and volume. The spraying time can be set according to the actual situation, such as 30 minutes or 1 hour. During the water spraying process, observe whether there are signs of water ingress on the control board, such as whether there are water droplets condensing inside, whether there are short circuits or functional abnormalities. After spraying water, open the control board casing and check for water stains on the internal electronic components.
Immersion test (applicable to high waterproof products): For control boards claiming to have a high waterproof rating (such as IPX7 or IPX8), immersion testing can be performed. Place the charging pile control board in a container filled with an appropriate amount of water and test it according to the soaking depth and time indicated on the product label. For example, for products with IPX7 rating, soak them in water for about 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter. After the test is completed, check whether the control board can work properly. However, safety should be taken into account during the immersion test to avoid the risk of electric shock, and the control board should be dried promptly after the test.
